Frozen Lakes of RMNP
In August of last year, after my first trip to the Rockies, I said, “I was a single drop of rain falling gracefully into the lakes and rivers below.”
Now, standing on one of those lakes—its surface transformed into a thick sheet of ice, etched with formations of weathered and frozen time—that feeling remained. I stood at the center as hikers passed by, slowly taking in my surroundings. The world seemed to expand around me until, once again, I became that drop of rain.
I could fill pages upon pages describing how the mountains make me feel. Whether in summer, when wildflowers speckle the meadows and the lakes shimmer in deep green and blue, or in the depths of winter, when snow glistens under the sun yet renders the path treacherous, there is beauty in every season. And to experience that beauty with a friend is the greatest gift.
I hope you enjoy these photos and that they inspire you to share your own—and to adventure often. 🗺️
